Zambia Mission Trip

THE TEAM

On the 14th of August, a team from Barton Church flew to Zambia for a two week long mission trip with Glo Zambia and Vinjeru School Trust. (Team members: Oz Power, Sarah Tomlin, Mark Hall, Josh Irwin, Ethan Power, Soraya Joseph, Nadia Power, Lauren Guile, Rob Guile and Ross Lusby)

UPDATES FROM THE TEAM

The local people within the community were invited to a sports and games programme held by the church and led by the team. In the morning, Ross led a talk on social media, helping people understand how to use it appropriately. In the afternoon, they went to the local park and played volleyball, football, and square game. The ladies also enjoyed making friendship bracelets with the children and youth within the community.

The team had a wonderful experience being part of the Sunday service at Shiwang’andu. They had amazing bible teachings from Oz and David Power. Mark and Lauren shared their powerful testimonies with the congregation and there was beautiful worship and choir singing.

“All the people in Shiwangandu are so friendly and welcoming. It is such a blessing for each and every one of us being here. We can see God is working in this place.”

QUOTE FROM THE TEAM

The team have also been busy helping with practical work around the school grounds. A few of the lads dug trenches to make a pathway, and the ladies did some wall painting of the map of Africa for the primary school. Then they took part in the P.E. lesson where the children were playing netball, football, and touch rugby.
